Which file(s)? Everything in 3.24 is at a later level than anything 
that is in 3.22, unless you have been manually messing with it. The 
exceptions may be some documentation, BogoFilter, and TNEF, 
which have not changed. Time stamps may be affected by time 
zone changes, and build parameters. Personally I always replace 
files, so I get the ones that the new package contains (especially 
when I test updated parts, which can cause the "newer file" 
problem).

Hmmm. That is not supposed to stop the program from starting. It 
should cause it to use the ancient, original, spell checker from 
PMMail 2.x. This is necessary because ASpell is not available for 
every language, and users have created their own word lists.

ASPELL is now supplied by RPM/YUM (the old directory should be 
removed by the installer). I suspect that  that was either not 
documented, or you didn't read that in the instructions (I haven't had 
the time to review what was documented). You may need to 
manually set aspell.cnf to point to the RPM/YUM version. My 
aspell.cnf contains:

It is not entirely correct, because the hard coded "W:" should be a 
system variable, equal to the UNIXROOT setting. I haven't found 
the place where that gets set (or used) in PMMail (but I am not a 
programmer, so I probably couldn't do anything about it anyway). 
Note the forward slashes, required by most UNIX programs.
