Thanks > >Gregg Well, first off, you need to know if the user wants to use ASpell. ASpell doesn't cover all languages, so some users still need the old PMMail 2.x spell checker, which should be the default when ASpell can't be found (or a new user setting needs to be implemented, so the user can choose). In fact, ASpell really should be selectable by account, not as a tool for all accounts. Some users have one account that operates in English, another that operates in French, and another that operates in German. The way it is today, they can't do that (other changes would also be required in the accounts). Something for the future, not for the upcoming release. Another problem: Currently, if you do a new install, PMMail won't start, looking for ASpell15.dll, which may not be there until the user installs ASpell (IF they want to use ASpell). Since PMMail won't start, it can't add, or fix, the aspell.cnf file, which the user may not want anyway. This one needs to be fixed. It seems that the two entries, in aspell.cnf, are the same, when using the RPM/YUM ASpell, but they are different when using the old PMMail version of ASpell (different directory structure). This works, for me: ------------------------- # # aspell.cnf -- Configuration for PMMail use of Aspell library # dict-dir /usr/lib/aspell-0.60 data-dir /usr/lib/aspell-0.60 # # ____[ end ]____ # ============== but my PMMail is installed on the UNIXROOT drive. The drive letter would be required if it was on a different drive. There is also the complication, that some people insist on putting their account directories on a different drive than either the program, or UNIXROOT. PMMail runs in the Accounts directory (and there can be multiple Accounts directories, possibly on different drives). I don't know what the best approach is, but the user should have the final say about what gets configured. They may want to stay with the old PMMail version of ASpell too. To get past the current problem, it should be okay to just add the UNIXROOT drive letter to the above. I am pretty sure that some people will be unhappy, but such is life. Neil is the project manager, so he gets to say what to do about it. -- **************************** From Doug Bissett's ArcaOS system dougb007 at telus dot net **************************** ...
