Latches Lane, Merion, PA *** MAY FEATURE PRESENTATIONS *** -- MEMBERS USEFUL APPLICATIONS & NEW STUFF -- The May meeting of the Philadelphia OS/2 SIG will be devoted to presentations by several members of useful OS/2 applications and hints, plus discussion of topics of current interest. Ben Bowers will present an introduction and overview of BeOS, a recent operating system arrival which has aroused high interest around the world. It is now widely (and freely) available for evaluation in the form of BeOS Personal Edition. 5 million copies are being distributed with magazines this year all across Europe. Barry Mann will discuss File Format Conversion Tips, with emphasis on the use of the OS/2 EPM text processor. He will also touch on the use of AWK and REXX for text processing purposes. Larry Lavins will report on the current status of FixPak-13 and the problems encountered by many OS/2 users. Larry will also review the progress to date of his new computer build, what remains to be done and costs. Several options haven't yet been chosen. Members will be asked for comments/suggestions. Other agenda items include SIG business matters, OS/2 news, new software releases, Q&A session, software raffle, etc. An OS/2 system will be on hand for demos of OS/2, Java, Internet, etc., as time permits. Free light refreshments will also be available.
