There are currently 23 sessions and workshops, all of which will be held in the ENGLISH language. Further information on each session and workshop, the speakers, and a timetable can be obtained from our home page at: http://warpstock.os2.org/en/program/ Have a look at the following small selection from the program: o OS/2 in Embedded Devices and where you would never expect it (by Achim Hasenmueller) OS/2 is proving its strengths not only on the corporate desktop and server machines. Embedded OS/2 is found on a broad variety of devices, ranging from control systems in nuclear power plants to multimedia set-top boxes. This presentation compares popular embedded operating systems and shows, how OS/2 competes with the market leaders. You will see a popular European set-top box running Embedded OS/2, incorporating some unique and amazing technologies. o UpcdCd - applying OS/2 fixpaks in a different way (by Zsolt Kadar) UpdCD is a REXX program, which can be used to produce updated copies of the Warp 4 installation CD-ROM. The resulting CD-ROM integrates all the fixes and updates supported by UpdCD and can be used to easily install a Y2K compliant copy of OS/2 on large hard disks without applying any fixes to the system after installation. o Connectivity around OS/2 (by Andreas Steinkopf) Mr. Steinkopf reports on Connectivity for OS/2 to set up I*-Nets, efficient Lotus Notes scenarios and solid Unified Messaging solutions. o gPhoto for OS/2, porting from Linux to OS/2 by example (by Bart van Leeuwen) This session shows by example how to port a linux application to OS/2. There is already a wide variety of ported Linux applications available for OS/2, showing very well the benefits, that the OS/2 community can take from the success of the open source apporach of Linux and its applications. At the same time this eases the so-called "lack of applications" being available for OS/2. Nevertheless porting a Linux application is still some kind of a mistery for those, who never dealt with portable code and the requirements, that program sources must meet in order to be easily portable. Bart van Leeuven will give you a detailed insight into what a developer has to take care for when porting a Linux application to OS/2, starting from the required tools over Linux/Unix-specific details up to encapsulating platform-specific code. The program gPhoto, being ported by him, is being taken as an example of how to port an existing Linux application and even to enhance it with OS/2 PM/WPS features.
