APAR IC17639 Abstract: TCP/IP APPS NO LONGER WORK WHEN COMM SRV 4.1 AND ITS MPTS INSTALLED ON WARP CONNECT OR WARP SERVER Description: This APAR fix contains routed.exe and the TCP/IP dial-up connection executable files that correspond to MPTS FixPak WR08415. MPTS FixPak WR08415 co-req's this APAR. These files are TCP/IP applications which depend on the level of the TCP/IP stack included in MPTS FixPak WR08415 to function correctly. Note that these are the latest versions of these applications for OS/2 Warp V4, TCP/IP V4.0. Some of the files have been serviced since OS/2 Warp V4 shipped. See the Change History below for a list of APAR fixes. Subsequent service for these files must be ordered for OS/2 Warp V4 TCP/IP, regardless of the base OS/2 Warp product you have installed. NOTE: The executable in this APAR require translated message files when the Operating System language is not US English. Since this APAR is in addition to installing an upgraded TCP/IP Stack (Warp 4.0), the message files currently installed on Warp Connect (3.0) and Warp Server (3.1) are not compatible. Instructions for replacing these files can be found under the section titled 'Replacing language files', below. Pre-reqs: You must have the following installed: - MPTS, component id 5639B1700, Version 5.11.1, CSD Level WR08415 (confirm this using the SYSLEVEL command - look for SYSLEVEL.MPT) Note that MPTS FixPak WR08415 can be installed on any of the following: - OS/2 Warp Connect, TCP/IP OS/2 V3, compid 562281300 - OS/2 Warp Server Advanced V4, TCP/IP V3.10, compid 562259100 - OS/2 Warp V4, with TCP/IP V4.0, component id 5639A6600 Contents: 6-23-97 9:23a 405460 0 catfiles.exe 3-25-97 2:47p 184577 0 ppp.exe 7-12-96 3:02p 25570 0 pppkill.exe 7-12-96 3:02p 33253 0 pppterm.exe 12-19-96 3:42p 90112 0 routed.exe 7-15-96 6:50a 45568 0 slattach.exe 7-15-96 6:45a 35328 0 slcfg.exe 3-25-97 6:33p 113152 0 slip.exe 7-15-96 6:46a 37376 0 sliphold.exe 7-15-96 6:47a 18944 0 slipkill.exe 7-15-96 6:48a 30839 0 slipmsg.exe 7-25-96 11:47a 141738 0 slippm.exe 7-15-96 6:47a 31232 0 sliprexx.dll 7-15-96 6:46a 41472 0 slipterm.exe 7-15-96 6:46a 18944 0 slipwait.exe Instructions: 1. Download IC17639.EXE and enter: IC17639 . to unpack the files 2. Copy the .exe files to c:\tcpip\bin, where "c:" is the drive on which you installed TCP/IP. Be sure you replace all copies of the .exe files in your PATH. 3. Copy sliprexx.dll to c:\tcpip\dll, where "c:" is the drive on which you insstalled TCP/IP. Be sure you replace all copies of the dll in you LIBPATH. To verify the correct installation of slip.exe, at an OS/2 command prompt enter: slip -? The first 3 lines of output should be: ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ SL/IP ³ OS/2 TCP/IP Multiple Interface SLIP Driver ³ 2.00 ³ Copyright(c) IBM Corp. 1993,1994,1995 ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Revision: 1.29a 25 Feb 1997 00:00:00 To verify the correct installation of ppp.exe, at an OS/2 command prompt enter: ppp -? Replacing message files: After the executable files have been installed the following message files must be replaced with the corresponding files for the appropriate language. PPP.CAT ROUTED.CAT SLATTACH.CAT SLIP.CAT SLIPPM.CAT The following is a list of the languages supported and the files that contains the translated messages files. Language: Use file: --------- --------- Danish dadk.exe German dede.exe Finish fifi.exe French frfr.exe Spanish eses.exe Italian itit.exe Brazilian Portuguese ptbr.exe Swedish svse.exe Dutch nlnl.exe Norwegian nono.exe Either of the following methods may be used to install the appropriate message files: Method A: 1) Find the directory that contains the current 'cat' files for the above executable files. One method of doing this is a "dir *.cat /s/f". 2) Enter the command "catfiles catfiles /d" to create a 'catfiles' sub-directory off of the current directory which will contain a set of language files (i.e. dede.exe) that, when expanded, will produce the required 'cat' files. 3) Change directory to the 'catfiles' directory. Choose the appropriate language file from the list above and enter the name of the file followed by the full path to the current 'cat' files from step 1) above. For example, if the path to the current 'cat' files, as determined by step 1) above, was 'c:\tcpip\msg\dede850' and the language desired is 'German' (dede.exe), entering "dede c:\tcpip\msg\dede850" will place the appropriate German language files in directory 'c:\tcpip\msg\dede850'. Method B: Enter just the language file name followed by a space then a period (i.e. "dede ."). This will expand the language files into the current directory where they can be moved to the appropriate directory manually.
