Technical Document # - 1173819 ____________________________________________________________ Family: Operating Systems Product: OS/2 Warp Release: 3.0 Syslevel: XR03000 Last Updated: 01/21/1998 ____________________________________________________________ TITLE SYS02025 and SYS02027 Error Messages during OS/2 Warp Installation on non-IBM System DESCRIPTION When installing OS/2 Warp on a non-IBM system with a Vesa Local Bus (VLB) IDE controller card, error messages SYS02025 and SYS02027 are received after the first restart. RESOLUTION 1. If the error occurred while the system was loading, run the CHKDSK program with the parameter /F. To run CHKDSK /F from diskettes: a. Insert the Installation Diskette in drive A; then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. b. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1. c. At the Welcome screen, press F3 to get to the command prompt. d. Insert Diskette 2. e. Type CHKDSK x:/F and press Enter (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed). f. Remove the diskette from drive A; then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. To run CHKDSK /F from CD: a. Insert the Installation Diskette in drive A; then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. b. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1. c. At the Welcome screen, press F3 to get to the command prompt. d. Insert the OS/2 CD in the CD-ROM drive; then press Enter. e. Type E: and press Enter (E is the CD-ROM drive). f. Type OS2IMAGE and press Enter. g. Type CD DISK_2 and press Enter. h. Type CHKDSK x:/F and press Enter (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed). 2. If the error occurred when the system was reading the installation diskettes, there might be an error on the diskette. If you already have an operating system installed, use the XDFCOPY command to make a copy of the installation diskettes. Retry the installation with the newly copied diskettes. 3. If your computer has BIOS supplied by AMI or Phoenix, you might need to upgrade the BIOS. Refer to Chapter 19, "Special Hardware Considerations" in the User's Guide to OS/2 Warp. 4. If your system has a local-bus IDE controller card, disable the BIOS on the 32-bit local-bus IDE controller card and use the generic INT13 driver instead of IBM1S506.ADD. Check the system documentation for instructions. 5. Make sure there is no hardware problem with your hard-disk controller or your diskette drive. 6.
