Fix Pack 13 for OS/2 Warp 4 Re-released On April 25, 2000 IBM OS/2 Fix Distribution re-released Fix Pack 13. Diskette images can be found at ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v4warp/ Select the language you are interested in, then the Fix Pack 13 (XR?M013) entry. If there is none, then Fix Pack 13 is not available for that language. It is expected that most countries will have versions released within a few weeks of the US release. Please check back often if there isn't one for your language. Software Updates enabled versions (RSU) can be found at http://ps.boulder.ibm.com/pbin-usa-ps/getobj.pl?/pdocs-usa/softupd.html This re-release fixes a number of problems detected in the initial release of FP 13. For those of you whom do not wish to take down the entire FP and re-install it, IBM has made a set of individual fixes that you can apply to your system and bring it to the same level of code. It is suggested that you install all fixes or re-install the FP. Fixes Available. All are available at URL ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v4warp/english-us/xr_m013/ * The file, REXXCRT.ZIP, is being made available for customers using Object REXX and have encountered Object REXX problems after installing Fix Pack 13. Install instructions are in the ZIP file. * The file, PCMCIATB.ZIP, is the PCMCIA device table. D/L file and see PCMCIATB.TXT in ZIP file for installation instructions. * The file, UNDELETE.ZIP a replacement UNDELETE Command for FP 13. D/L ZIP file and see UNDELETE.TXT file for installation instructions. * The file, PMMERGE.ZIP, the fix for blank PMFAX pages and other programs displaying blank objects. An orignal fix was released on 04/18/2000 and was found to have side effects. Some users experience Icon corruption. On 05/05/2000 this fix has been re-released with some updated files. See PMMERGE.TXT in ZIP file for install instructions. Fix not included in the re-released FP, but available for individual download. * The file, TRAP6FIX.ZIP, the fix for non-Pentium systems that trap 6 on booting, D/L ZIP file and see READ.ME file for installation instructions. Without applying this fix, you will see a TRAP 6 upon reboot. If you had booted from a running system, you will not be able to complete the FP application process due to locked files. You must get this file and apply it to be able to reboot your system and complete application of the Fix Pack. If you do not feel comfortable applying FP 13 for this reason, it is suggested you wait for FP 14, which IBM will release within a short period of time. * The file, DSPINSTL.ZIP, the fix for Display Drivers Install problems. Known to fix Matrox Display Driver install and probably others. If you are not experiencing problems, you do not need this fix. See DSPINSTL.TXT in the ZIP file for Install details. * The file, IMPOS2.ZIP, the fix for IMPOS/2 program not being able to open the Color Wheel. NOTE: This fix contains PMMERGE.DLL, and that file is also in the PMMERGE.ZIP. That fix above DOESN'T contain this fix. You must apply that fix FIRST and then this fix if you want both (more files are in PMMERGE.ZIP and those are needed if you want that fix). If you apply PMMERGE.ZIP after applying this fix, you will lose this fix. * The file, SUSPRES.ZIP, the fix for Suspend/Resume on some machines that hang and will not resume. This Fix Pack still has a few problems IBM is actively working on and will post new fixes when available. They are : * Inability to create Utility Diskettes. This function doesn't work. You will need to use your old Utility Diskettes or the CD Install diskettes (F3 to get to a Command prompt). If you have a set already, they will also work, but be aware that due to the merging of the Warp 4 kernel with the WSeB kernel, the new external commands will not work under the old kernel. You must use the external commands on the diskette when booted from old Utility diskettes. This is a work-around, although not easy, for this problem : There are a few steps required : 1. From the lastest FP 13 released get the following files UNPACKED : o SYSINSTX.COM - Disk 16. FIX\OS2.1, packed o BOOTDISK.EXE - Disk 15, FIX\OS2.1, packed NOTE: The original released FP 13 did NOT contain the correct version files, you must use the files from the present, re-released FP 13. 2. Create on your hard disk a directory called OS2IMAGE and the following directories under it : o DISK_0 o DISK_1 o DISK_2 o DISK_3 o DISK_34 3. XCOPY the contents of the Original OS/2 Warp 4 CD's OS2IMAGE directory for the above 5 directories into the directories you just created on you hard disk thereby duplicating the CD image for those directories on your hard disk. 4. REPLACE the Unpacked SYSINSTX.COM from the latest released FP 13 into the OS2IMAGE\DISK_0 replacing the original SYSINSTX.COM in the directory. Files copied from a CD will retain the R/O attributes, before you can copy SYSINSTX.COM over the old one, please use "ATTRIB -r -s -h SYSINSTX.COM" to remove all attributes. 5. Run the NEW BOOTDISK.EXE from the FP latest FP 13 that you had unpacked above. 6. When the dialog box appears containing the CD location of drive:\OS2IMAGE, change the location to be the new location on your hard disk. 7. Depending if you want use the existing files on your hard disk checkbox or not : o Use existing files from your hard disk to create Utility Diskettes. If you check the box that says copy files from your hard drive, you will possibly need to DELETE files on the 2nd diskette to make space. Keep TRACK of files you delete as you'll need to edit the CONFIG.SYS and SNOOP.LST on that diskette to REMOVE the lines for those files. Failure to edit either CONFIG.SYS or SNOOP.LST will cause the diskettes to present an error and not boot the system. o Use the older files on the CD to create Utility Diskettes. If you do not check the box, the diskettes will be created for you and you can use them. The diskettes will boot the system to the old Warp 4 kernel, and you will not be able to switch to your hard drive and execute external commands from the hard disk. You must have the Warp 4 external command versions on a diskette and use those. # Both these are known problems, and may NOT be fixed immediately : * 24 hour clock on Warp Center not working, only 12 hour AM/PM works. * A delay or error message occurs if you change the Warp Center's Performance meter to a drive display when an Audio CD is in the CD drive.
