Installing Two Sound Cards eCS installs and supports 2 soundcards just fine as long as the io ports, irq and dma are different. A lot easier then it would be under Windows too.Why would you want to do it? Well it allows you to listen to system events and alarms without disrupting playback of other sounds like a module or MP3 player on your second sound card. Or you can use it for VoiceType while listening too music etc..Selective Install should detect both your sound cards. Unfortunately it will only install one at a time even if both are selected. Selective install also allows you install different sound cards on the same system. Before you install it, please note these problems:MIDI====There is a bug with MMOS2, so that even though MIDI2 output is selected as default, MIDI is still played through MIDI1 device. So if you have a wavetable card that you want to listen to MIDIs to make sure you install it as your first sound card following the steps below.WaveAudio=========This not a bug, but a lot of programs like PMMail, Organizer assume that there is only one sound card so sound is played through Waveaudio01 no matter which is chosen as default. Basically, the first sound card should be the one used for system events, application sounds and so on.Installation============Use selective install and install the first sound card. Once that is done, then go to selective install again, and install the second sound card, but also select the first sound card as the second choice. After rebooting you should now see in Multimedia settings waveaudio01 and waveaudio02, MIDI1 MIDI2 and so on reflecting the two sound cards. You can see the setup of the two cards in MMPM.INI in the MMOS2 directory of your boot drive. It is quite long bug can be edited manually if you have problems (make a backup FIRST!). So it is possible to switch them around (waveaudio01, waveaudio02) without doing a reinstall. If you use your computer to listen to music continously like I do then this is a must. Use a cheap ESS1868 card for example as the first one and a better low noise sound card like an SB16 for music as the second card.I hope this has been useful..ENJOY THE MUSIC!! :)
