Long desc: This program appeared due to the fact that I absolutely disliked startx from the Xfree86/OS2 distribution. So I decided to write an alternative thereto. Advantages In advantage of startx RxStartx: @ more quickly launches XFree86 than startx does (makes no pause after xserver start) @ before xserver launching it checks availability of the X11 port, @ includes internal support for FONT server, @ is simple in configuring and written on REXX which allows adopting it for your special needs. It's derived from Herbert Duerr's excellent xfstt, which was intended for Unix. It gives good performance and gives excellent rendering of fonts at low resolutions. You can use your TrueType fonts from Win-OS/2 or any other Windows system. Includes documentation on how to get it to work with IBM's INETD. Includes updates from a contributor which make it easier to set up when just using it with a local X server. Runs on: OS/2 Warp 3 and up Requires: TCP/IP, XFree86+EMX (or PMX) Contact: Joshua E. X applications use it as normal X server, and VNC viewer uses it as VNC server to get X display images. Combining Xvnc and VNC viewer makes pseudo X environment. As you can run X application, Xvnc and VNC viewer on different machines, you may use several machines to balancing network/CPU loads, or you'll use remote applications with specific combinations. If you run Xapps. Vvnc, Viewer all in OS/2, then you'll get pseudo X environment on OS/2. If you run Xvnc and Viewer on you OS/2 and use Xapps on remote machine, it gives pseudo X terminal on you OS/2. Also you can remote access to OS/2 with running viewer on another machine (only use X apps, cannnot access to WPS/PM). Requires: EMX runtime (0.9c later) and some XFree86/2 files.
