Chapter 27. Using the DB2 Workstation as a Server for Host Applications

You can set up DB2 on the workstation to be a database server for clients or applications that use Distributed Relational Database Architecture (DRDA). The DRDA Application Server (AS) feature enables DB2 to function as a database server for DRDA Application Requesters (DRDA ARs).

DRDA AS is installed automatically with your DB2 server. However, there are some steps required to set up the connection with a DRDA AR. These steps are described in this chapter.

Note:DRDA-AS support is available on the HP-UX platform only if you connect to the host using the TCP/IP communications protocol.
