PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES CAREFULLY, BEFORE INSTALLING XOSL

Extended Operating System Loader comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, it
is destributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
The full license can be found in the GPL.TXT file.

1. If you have XOSL 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 installed, you can 'easy-upgrade'
to XOSL 1.1.4. Just copy the following files from this disk to the
location where XOSL is already installed:
- XOSLLOAD.XCF (for XOSL 1.1.2 only)
- XOSLIMG0.XXF
- XOSLIMG1.XXF
- XOSLIMG2.XXF
- XOSLIMG3.XXF
- XOSLIMG4.XXF
- XOSLIMG5.XXF
- DEFAULT.XFF
- EXTRA.XFF
You may have to modify the read-only and hidden flags of the
installed files.

---- FOR XOSL 1.1.2 only:
After you have copied the files, reboot and XOSL 1.1.4 will be
started. From XOSL 1.1.4, re-apply the XOSL password (Preference/
Password), to make sure the password for XOSL-bypass is set
correctly. If you don't have a password set for XOSL, you will
still have to hit the 'Apply' button at Preference/Password.

---- FOR BOTH 1.1.2 and 1.1.3:
For XOSL 1.1.4, the timeout will be set to 0, which means XOSL
will instantly boot the default OS (provided that you have
selected a default). Simply hit escape when XOSL is loaded,
and restore the timer value manually.

Lastly, if you have XOSL installed on a dedicated partition,
you can mount it with Linux, after which you can apply the
above procedure.

2. If you have any other version installed, it is recommened
to uninstall it before installing XOSL 1.1.4 To perform a
quick uninstall, execute 'fdisk /mbr'.

3. It is strongly recommended to install XOSL from a floppy.

4. With XOSL comes Ranish Partition Manager, written by Mikhail
Ranish. Note that certain circumstances exist where it is not
free to use. Refer to http://www.ranish.com/part for the details.

-- NOTES ON INSTALLATION ON DEDICATED PARTITION --

1. You have to create a partition for XOSL yourself, BEFORE you
run install. The XOSL install utility does not create a partition
for you.

2. Select the partition you want to install XOSL onto carefully.
ALL DATA ON THE SELECTED PARTITION WILL BE DESTROYED! Although
install provides an uninstall option, which can completely restore
the partition data, you should NEVER rely on such features.

3. If you install from floppy (recommended), make sure that floppy
has at least 712kb (729088 byte) of free disk space BEFORE you run
install (and after you have copied the XOSL install files to the
floppy). If you don't install Ranish Partition Manager, only 584kb
(598016 byte) of free disk space is required.
