Search menu
The Search menu contains commands for finding text in source code.
Choose one of the following commands for more information.
See "Search and Replace" in the "Keyboard mappings" topic for keyboard shortcuts.
Search|Find
Displays the Find Text dialog box. Use this dialog box to specify text you want to locate and set options that affect the search.
Search|Find In Path
Opens the Find In Path dialog box, where you search for a string in all files in all directories in a source path.
Results are displayed in the Search Results tab of the AppBrowser.
Search|Replace
Displays the Replace Text dialog box. Use this dialog box to specify text you want to search for and then replace with other text (or with nothing).
Search|Search Again
Repeats the last Find or Replace command.
The settings last made in the Find Text or Replace Text dialog box remain in effect when you choose Search Again. For instance, if you have not cleared the Replace Text settings, the Search Again command searches for the string you last specified and replaces it with the text specified in the Replace Text dialog box.
Search|Incremental Search
Moves the cursor directly to the next occurrence of text that you type.
When you are performing an incremental search, a tool tip appears that reads "Search For:" and displays each letter you have typed.
For example, if you type "class" the cursor moves to the next occurrence of the word, highlighting each letter as you type it. This behavior continues until the editor loses focus or you press Enter or Escape.
Search|Go To Line
Opens the Go To Line Number dialog box.
This dialog box prompts you for the line number you want to find. (The current line and column number are displayed in the Line and Column Indicator on the status bar of the content pane.) Enter the desired line number in the Enter New Line Number input box and click OK.
Search|Browse Classes
Displays the Browse Classes dialog box. Use this dialog box to browse a specific class, package, or interface.
Classes, or keywords, include:
- Class names
- Interface names
- Event names
- Method names
- Property names
- Package names
In order for a class to be found automatically, it must be on the import path.
Results are displayed in the content pane of the AppBrowser.
Search|History
Navigate to a specific item in the history list. Click the Down arrow to the right of the button to access the history list.
Search|Back
Takes you back to the previous class or page in the history list.
Search|Forward
Takes you forward to the next class or page in the history list.
