Enterprise page (Project Properties dialog box)

This is a feature of JBuilder Enterprise.
You use the Enterprise page of the Project Properties dialog box to select the application server you are developing Enterprise JavaBeans for. Your selection determines which deployment descriptor files are created as you use JBuilder's EJB wizards to create enterprise beans.

The default value is the Inprise Application Server 4.1.

To select an application server,

  1. Click the ... button to display the Select Application Server dialog box.
  2. Select the server you want.
  3. Click OK.

No matter which application server you choose, using JBuilder's EJB tools creates an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor that adheres to the requirements of the EJB 1.1 specification. Depending on your selection, other deployment descriptors might also be created that contain entries specific to the selected application server.

Inprise Application Server 4.1

If you select the Inprise Application Server 4.1 option, you will be creating an ejb-inprise.xml file, which contains Inprise-specific entries, along with the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor.

EJB 1.1

The EJB 1.1 choice is a generic option. Select it if the application server you use is not currently supported by JBuilder. You will probably want to edit the resulting deployment descriptor with tools supplied with that application server to get the exact settings you want. You could also choose this option if the you aren't targeting a specific application server. Only an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor is created.

WebLogic Application Server 5.1

If you select the WebLogic Application Server 5.1 option, you will be creating an weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file and, for an entity bean with container-managed persistence, an weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar file. Both of these files contain WebLogic-specific entries. You will still be generating the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor.

Default application server settings are provided for the Inprise and WebLogic options. To view and change them if you wish, click the Edit button to display the Application Server Properties dialog box.

Third parties can add support for other application servers using JBuilder's OpenTools API.
