XFree86-3.3.6 UnixOS/2 working X Environment. ---------------------------------------------- 02/06/08 Snapshot? First: -------- Rename your xfree86 directory xfree86.old or something else. Second: -------- Unzip xfree86-ux2.zip onto your root drive where unixos2 resides. This snapshot works providing you have a card that uses the svga driver. Otherwise you'll have to get it yourself and run xf86config. It's preconfigured for 800x600 and SciTech's SDD video drivers are highly recommended for OS/2. Third: -------- Add the following to your config.sys making the necessary adjustments. Add to path: D:\unixos2\xfree86\bin; Add to libpath: D:\unixos2\xfree86\lib; SET HOSTNAME=ux2rulez SET USE_HOSTS_FIRST=1 SET USER=Jughead SET TEMP=D:\unixos2\tmp SET TMPDIR=D:/unixos2/tmp SET UNIXROOT=D:\unixos2 SET X11ROOT=D:/unixos2 SET HOME=D:\unixos2\home SET TERMCAP=D:/unixos2/xfree86/lib/x11/etc/termcap.x11 SET TERM=ansi SET LOGNAME=Jughead DEVICE=D:\unixos2\xfree86\lib\xf86sup.sys SET XSERVER=D:/unixos2/xfree86/bin/xf86_svga.exe SET DISPLAY=ux2rulez:0.0 SET MANPATH=D:/unixos2/usr/man;D:/unixos2/usr/local/man;D:/unixos2/xfree86/man; REBOOT: Run: checkinstall | more Disregard Xprog/EMX environment errors. Lastly: -------- Start X with: startx -- -bpp 16 I'll let you slide since the /x1 tree in current isn't ready/buggy but you really should learn to do this yourself. Any problems? Tough!
