Quick Beginnings
To install the DB2 products, perform the following steps:
- Install DB2 products. As part of this installation step, the
following installation activities are optional:
- Install on-line documentation.
- Install translated messages.
- Create or assign groups and user IDs.
- Create a DB2 instance.
- Create the Administration Server.
- Create links for DB2 files (optional).
You can install the DB2 products on Version 4.1.4 or later of
the AIX operating system using any of the following methods.
- SMIT interface with Software bundles contains a list of
software products that are suited for a particular use. Installation is
easier with software bundles. Refer to "Installing Software Bundles Using SMIT".
- SMIT also allows you to install a subset of products and filesets in
software bundle. If you prefer to install only a selected set of DB2
products and filesets, see "Installing Products or Filesets Using SMIT".
- If you prefer to use the installp command, you must first mount
the DB2 product CD-ROM. You also need to mount the CD-ROM if you want
to view the CD-ROM readme file or print the Postscript manuals prior to
installation.
