Chapter 14. Diagnostic Tools for Macintosh

Use the diagnostic tools described in this chapter to gather and process data that can help identify the cause of a problem when using Macintosh systems.

Once collected, the data can be examined by you or by someone who is familiar with the problem, or provided to IBM for analysis.

For Macintosh systems, the following tools are available:

DB2 trace
In the DB2 Preferences alias file add the following:
db2traceon=y
db2tracename=harddrive:db2:filename

You can format the trace by dragging and dropping the filename icon onto the Trace formatter icon.

For more information on DB2 traces, see "Using the DB2 Trace Facility (db2trc)".

db2diag.log file
See "Understanding First Failure Data Capture" for more information on this important diagnostic tool.
